There are only two types of photos that come from straight on built in flash. The negatives are the red eye, over exposed harshly lit photos you get of your friends and family because of how close the flash is to the lens. The positives being awesome crime scene photos where the details of a crime are documented in straight on flash photography and tucked away in case files. Unfortunately, the majority of avid photographers are not crime scene investigators and we do not prefer to have amateur memories with red eye, squinting and all that comes with the harsh reality (and light) from built in flash. Many associate surfing with a surfboard, but what happens when all you have is yourself? Well, they call it body surfing and the world championships of this simple concept, but extremely difficult sport is this weekend in Oceanside! Not only do you have the chance to go out to the beach and get some rays (Note: Wear lots of sunscreen), but you get to capture something powerful. We live by the ocean and people tend to take for granted just how epic the ocean is and the power behind each wave. To ride a wave with just your body is an art and a risk and all the more reason to try and get a snap shot of the beautiful site. Join other onlookers, photographers, and body surfers this Saturday and Sunday (August 18-19) anytime from 6:30am-5pm at the Oceanside Municipal Pier, Lifeguard Tower 1. There are value packed beginner digital SLR (stands for Single Lens Reflex) cameras that are perfect for anyone excited about taking their photography to the next level. In the past, we have done an equipment recommendation on beginner DSLR cameras, but the great thing about technology today is that it is ever changing. There are always bigger and better cameras coming out and the amazing cameras of last year have dropped in price to become more affordable to those who are novice. This may make you say, then “how will I have the best camera if there is always something better?” An investment in a camera body is the first step to building a photographer’s arsenal and the camera body stays pretty consistent in features throughout the years and new models. With an older model of DSLR you will gradually add new lenses or accessories to change of the look of your photos. Below I will be describing the Top 5 Awesome Features of the two cameras we are recommending and these features will keep your photos sharp and beautiful and will cost you under $1000 to get! Jennifer made some creative choices that truly paid off with this amazing black and white photo. Not only does she take a great perspective and use lines to draw your eye to different focal points, she catches the train going by with a slower shutter speed making this amazing effect with the movement of the train. Jennifer took this shot at our Night & Low Light Photography Class on July 24, 2012. LEARN MORE HERE |
